On April 6, 2024, the prestigious JKA European Championship took place in Ghent, Belgium, bringing together some of the finest karate practitioners from across the continent. The event was a showcase of skill, determination, and sportsmanship, and Yushikai Karate Academy was proud to have four of its members represent JKA England as part of the national team: Harrison Langridge, Samuel Dekker, Tom Warnock, and Helena Chan.

Facing tough competition and challenging draws, the Yushikai team demonstrated remarkable resilience and spirit throughout the event. Each member brought their own strengths to the competition, embodying the values of hard work and perseverance that are central to JKA Karate.

The highlight of the day came when Harrison Langridge, competing as part of the senior men’s Kumite team, made history by winning gold alongside teammates Akbar Amonulloev and Josh Hyde. This victory marks a significant milestone for JKA England, as it is the first time in the organisation’s 21-year history that a gold medal has been achieved in this division.

The entire Yushikai dojo celebrates this outstanding accomplishment and applauds the dedication and effort of all the competitors. Their commitment to excellence not only reflects their personal journeys but also uplifts the standards of karate in the England.

As Yushikai Karate Academy continues to foster talent and ambition, we look forward to future competitions and the opportunity to build on this remarkable achievement. Congratulations to Harrison, Samuel, Tom, Helena, and the entire JKA England team for their inspiring performances!
