Yushikai Karate Academy Dojo...

The Yushikai Karate Academy full time Dojo was officially opened by the head of JKA England on Saturday 16th August 2008.

We first expressed an interest in our new location back in Feburary 2007 and we are very proud of our new facility.  To celebrate the occasion, Sensei Ohta (6th Dan) had agreed to visit and lead two training sessions for our advanced students and a few specially invited individuals.

The first class kicked off at 3pm and was aimed at our members who have attained Brown belt level.  This was followed by a further class for our Black belts and everybody in attendance found Sensei's lesson to be informative, inspirational and very enjoyable.

On conclusion of the training, Yushikai Karate Academy Chief Instructor, Dave Paulus welcomed everyone to his new Dojo and gave a brief speech during which he thanked all of his students who had assisted with the refurbishment, as well as Gerard and Joy Turvey from NEST Management for all of their advice and support.

Sensei Ohta was then invited to 'cut the ribbon' to officially open the Dojo.  Another special guest, Mr. Devlin from Billericay Town Council contributed to the evening by offering his best wishes and cutting the cake, which had been specially prepared to mark the occasion.

Jenni Cousans then introduced members of the JKA England squad who performed Nijushiho and Chinte before Sensei Ohta concluded the display with a fantastic performance of Sochin.

Prior to the buffet opening, Dave Paulus asked Sensei Ohta to come forward once more and thanked him for all he has done to develop our academy.  It was noted that not only does this year mark the fifth anniversary of JKA England, but it is also Sensei Ohta's 25th year in England.  Sensei was then presented with a token of appreciation from the Yushikai Karate Academy and the formal part of the evening came to a close.

An enjoyable evening was had by all in attendance and we are proud to open our doors to the general public.
